12v Transformers

The transformers are supplied with 1M of waterproof mains input cable with a 3 pin plug. There are various lengths options of  output cable which is waterproof and detachable. Rated IP68, the transformers are designed for outdoor use although we do recommend installing them above ground  for ease of access.

To ensure the correct size transformer is used, add up the total wattage of the 12v lights to be powered by the transformer; the total should not exceed the wattage of the transformer. For example, to power 2x 20W 12V Path Lights (total 40W), a 50W transformer would be required, however 9x 2W 12V Spot Lights (total 18W) would only require a 20W transformer. Ideally, a small amount of power should remain unused in case additional lights need to be added.

It is recommended that transformers should be loaded to around 50% to 95% of their capacity. If loaded less than this, voltage can increase slightly which may result in a small reduction of lamp life. All Lumena transformers have an in-built theraml cut-off which protects against power overload or ‘overvoltage’.
