Wall-washing is a popular lighting technique with landscape professionals for illuminating large architectural surfaces.
The most impressive examples of this are often visable on commercial cultural buildings such as, museums, churches and galleries. At night, these buildings often take on a fantastic beauty and dramatic ambience, usually created with simple LED Wall Washers. For maximum dramatic effect I suggest Blue or even Red. Green is great for Garden walls.
A Wall Washer consists of a row of bright LED lights encased in an Aluminium watertight enclosure. This points at 90 degrees or adjusts dependant upon the desired effect.
In gardens, large walls or hedges can have a ‘wash’ of light to gently create a focus feature. ‘Washing’ in this way also gives overall anti-glare illumination to a space. It will be enjoyed as evening draws in.
The most suitable LED Wall Washers are weatherproof, adjustable, and powerful enough to do the job. The robust 12w ‘Litecast’ by Lumena is available in Warm or Daylight white as well as single colours of Red, Green or Blue. It’s supplied with a detachable 24v DC Driver, with an impressively high lumen output – over 100 lumens per watt ! Extension cables are available to place the Driver remotely from the Wall washer. If pointing vertically, the light diffuses over more than 4 metres. Importantly, the angle of the Litecast adjusts to suit the effect you desire. There are two adjustable foot brackets that fix to any flat surface. Also, Aluminium ground spikes are available for in-ground mounting. The Plug and Play aspect of the Litecast makes it extremely easy and quick to install.
